The Blessing and Success…

…of any vision is always due to the gracious hand of God and His operational power working on our behalf. Nothing we do can manufacture blessing and success. However, the values we adopt as we pursue vision can actively undermine the end goal. Consequently, the values we operate under as we pursue vision are just as important as the vision itself.

Mark believes the following 13 VALUES are key to shaping ministry in a way that faithfully represents the model that Jesus had in mind when He declared “I will build my Church”, and will by nature attract heaven’s blessing because they are aligned with heaven’s culture.

God Focused:

God is the ultimate reality. It is all about Him! He is the beginning and end point of all things and real life can only be truly experienced when He is given His rightful place as the primary focus of our lives.

“In the beginning God…”

Christ Centred:

Faith in God is centred around and realized in the Birth, Life, Teaching, Ministry, Death, Resurrection, Ascension and Second Coming of Jesus Christ.

“God exalted Him to the highest place and gave him the name that is above every name.”

Spirit Empowered:

The legitimate Christian walk is a Spirit empowered model of faith by which we partner with the Holy Spirit to bring Salvation, Forgiveness, Restoration, Healing, Wholeness, and Transformation both in the Church and to the Nations.

“Wait for the gift my Father promised…you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes.”

Presence Seeking:

Mankind’s first conscious experience was intimacy with the Father. It is only in His presence that we truly understand how good He is, the purpose of life and the infinite Joy that is ours as His children. It is always a joy to seek His manifest presence as a priority, knowing that real life flows from that place.

“My soul longs, yes, even faints for the courts of the Lord; my heart and my flesh cry out for the living God.”

Word Shaped:

The primary educator of the Christian disciple is the Word of God. Its purpose is to shape and craft every area of our Character, Conduct and Thinking; no matter how uncomfortable that process may be.

“All Scripture is God breathed and useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training.”

Kingdom Thinking:

Jesus came preaching and demonstrating the Gospel of the Kingdom of Heaven. As such when seeking His will, priority will always be given to His Kingdom, not ‘personal comfort’, ‘our Church’ or ‘my ministry’.

“Seek first the kingdom of God…”

People Honouring:

Jesus gave us a ministry model that demonstrated the inherent worth and value of all humans despite their fallen nature. This model can only be followed when we treat all with honour regardless of their station in life.

“Honour all people, love the brotherhood, fear God, honour the king.”

Unity Building:

We can only expect people to recognise our claims about Christ and His claim upon their lives, by our love for one another. God’s abundant blessing flows when we work and walk forward in unity of purpose and vision. This unity can only be built and maintained through healthy relationships.

“How good and pleasant it is when brothers live together in unity…”

Integrity Walking:

Healthy relationships are marked by: freedom from fear, openness, honesty, integrity and loving confrontation; so that there is no disparity between the secret inner life and the life lived in public.

“Search me, O God, and know my heart”

Disciple Making:

Christianity is not just a moment of conversion, but also process of transformation. It is a call to take on the master’s likeness and follow in his footsteps. This call is activated, by exercising our freedom to walk in radical and sacrificial obedience to the Father’s will.

“They pulled their boats up on shore, left everything and followed him.”

Leadership Raising:

God anoints and appoints leaders in His church, to lead, build and prepare her for service in His Kingdom. It is fitting to receive with honour those who function in this manner as it releases blessing personally and corporately. Where possible it is vital to participate in passing on this ministry in a simple and straightforward manner to all who demonstrate calling, anointing and character.

“…fan into flame the gift of God, which is in you through the laying on of my hands”

Team Releasing:

The best context for ministry is ‘team’. Jesus spent His three years of ministry training and releasing a team. Team relationships provide accountability, encouragement, exhortation, protection and the release of strengths by the covering of weaknesses.

“Calling the twelve to Him, He sent them out two by two and gave them authority…”

Excellence Practicing:

In life and ministry all things deserve to be done ‘as to the Lord.’ Therefore, in all situations it is fitting to do the best that is possible, with the resources available, in the time at hand.

“Whoever can be trusted with very little can also be trusted with much.”
